Economic Reform Committee orders customs staff reduction at Nimule border

The Economic Reforms Committee has ordered the reduction of customs staff at the Nimule border to address overstaffing and improve revenue collection. The directive was issued by a sub-committee of the Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Reform following an inspection visit to the Nimule border port.

Speaking in Nimule, Interior Minister and head of the Economic Reform Sub-Committee, Aleu Ayieny, raised concerns about the number of personnel deployed at the border. “The over staffing that we found here shall be reduced. As a soldier you must move you cannot be in that Tree for one year, you must be changed such that another person comes in. Especially those along the roads.
