Namibia has once again stamped its authority on regional swimming, claiming the overall team title at the Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming Championships in Gaborone, Botswana, for the fourth consecutive year. The Namibian team finished at the top of the combined team standings with 2 610. 50 points, ahead of hosts Botswana on 2 017 points and South Africa on 2 007. Namibia also topped both the men and women’s team standings, underlining the depth and consistency of the national squad. The championships produced a special double for Namibia, with Jessica Humphrey crowned the 17–29 girls age group champion and Oliver Durand taking the 17–29 boys title. Humphrey was also recognised as the best overall individual female performance, scoring 732 World Aquatics points for her 100m backstroke performance, while Luke Beukes took the men’s award with 778 points for his 50m freestyle. Namibian swimmers were also responsible for a significant number of championship records throughout the meet. The official results recorded 34 championship-record performances across the championships, including 30 individual and four relay records. While the headline performances came from Namibia’s medal winners and record breakers, the championship was ultimately won through the depth of the entire team.
