India is chairing the group this year under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability. ” BRICS currently comprises 11 members and has expanded its agenda to cover trade, finance, technology, development and reform of global institutions. Before the summit, Putin is expected to hold bilateral talks with Modi on Friday. The two sides are set to discuss a broad range of issues in Russian-Indian relations, including trade, energy, defense and industrial cooperation.
